Garden View Dental Care uses CCTV at our premises as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Why we use CCTV
CCTV is operated during night-time hours only for security purposes. It is used to help:
- Protect our premises, property and assets.
- Support the prevention, detection and investigation of crime, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
- Promote the security of the practice.
CCTV is only used where we consider it necessary and proportionate. We do not use covert CCTV recording.
Where CCTV is used
CCTV may cover public and communal areas of the practice premises. Cameras are not used in areas where individuals would reasonably expect a high level of privacy, such as toilets or changing areas.
Appropriate signage is displayed to inform visitors that CCTV is in use.
How we handle CCTV footage
Garden View Dental Care is the Data Controller for CCTV footage recorded at the practice.
Recorded footage is stored securely and access is restricted to authorised individuals. CCTV footage is normally retained for no longer than 30 days, unless it needs to be retained for a legitimate reason, such as an ongoing investigation, legal proceedings or the preservation of evidence.
Footage will only be disclosed to third parties where there is an appropriate lawful basis, for example where relevant footage is required by the police or other law enforcement authorities.
Your data protection rights
Images captured by CCTV may constitute personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
You may have the right to request access to CCTV footage containing your personal data and to exercise other applicable data protection rights.
