Teeth whitening is an excellent way to boost the appearance of your smile. At Garden View Dental Care in Buckinghamshire, our experienced cosmetic dental team are highly experienced in providing whitening treatment. We have two options available at our practice.
How teeth whitening works
Teeth whitening uses special bleaching gel to safely and gently remove everyday stains from the teeth. Our teeth are easily stained by food and drink such as coffee and red wine, by smoking, and by some medications and medicated mouthwashes. Even patients with good dental hygiene practices may find that their lifestyle is causing stains on their teeth.
If you are concerned about stained teeth and want to improve the appearance of your smile, you should call into our Buckinghamshire dental practice to find out about teeth whitening treatment options.
You should always consult a dentist before starting teeth whitening treatment. Products available from the internet or from beauty parlours are unlikely to be as rigorously tested as those used in a dental practice. They may at best be ineffective; at worst they can actually damage your teeth and gums.
The products we use at Garden View in Buckinghamshire are tested and safe. We offer two treatment options: power whitening here in the practice, and home whitening.
Home whitening
Home whitening involves the use of custom-made teeth whitening trays and whitening gel. The trays will be made to comfortably fit over your teeth. You place a small amount of the gel into the trays and wear them overnight for approximately two weeks.
Power whitening
Power teeth whitening is carried out here at our Buckinghamshire practice by a cosmetic dentist. They will shield your lips and gums and apply whitening gel to your teeth. A special lamp is used to activate the gel, and all you need to do is sit back and relax for an hour or so.

One of the fastest ways to give your smile a natural-looking, long-lasting makeover is with porcelain veneers. Veneers are one of the most popular treatments in cosmetic dentistry. We have helped many patients at our Buckinghamshire dental practice to boost the appearance of their smiles with the help of veneers.

Teeth whitening
Anyone considering teeth whitening treatment should ensure they only have the procedure carried out under the care of a qualified dentist. There are many products available on the internet and the highstreet that promise whiter teeth, but you should be cautious. Most of these products won’t work, meaning you will have wasted time and money. In the worst case scenario they can actually damage your teeth, gums and mouth. By law, teeth whitening must only be carried out by a dentist or a hygienist/hygiene therapist on a dentist’s prescription.
Cosmetic dental treatments
Basically, yellow teeth are inevitable. Food, drinks, and the environment all lead to the yellowing of the teeth, and there is little anyone can do to prevent this inevitability. Apart from the cumulative effects of these external causes, at least two structural changes in the mouth also make teeth more likely to appear yellow with aging. These are the thinning of the tooth’s outer coating called the enamel, as well as the thickening of the layer under it, called the dentin.
Here at Garden View Dental Care, cosmetic dentist Dr Makhani offers a range of treatment options for patients who are bothered by gappy teeth.
But, at least for appearance’s sake, visit the dentist often. As dentists, there is very little we can do, but warn you that vices are generally bad for your health. Afterwards, we can only help you look after your teeth. With all those inhaling and ingesting, you will definitely do a number to your dentitions. If you suffer from an ongoing condition, then you have more reason to reconsider that second stick or glass.
Sugary drinks are bad for the teeth, as even the simplest structure of sugar is capable of deteriorating dental enamel.
